SVI SpA, a prominent Italian company specializing in railway engineering and heavy machinery based in Lucignano (Arezzo), is making a powerful statement on the global stage by exhibiting 100 tons of advanced railway work vehicles at InnoTrans 2026. Held in Berlin from September 22 to 25, 2026, InnoTrans is the world’s premier international trade fair for rail transport technology, drawing massive global attendance—including 170,000 visitors during its 2024 iteration. For SVI, participating in this biennial German exhibition highlights its robust international vocation and commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions to the worldwide rail market.
Founded in 1999 in Città di Castello by Ivano Sambuchi and Mauro Vannoni, SVI (Sambuchi Vannoni Imprenditori) originally emerged to capitalize on the booming European high-speed rail expansion. Over the decades, the company has transformed into an industry heavyweight capable of managing the entire manufacturing lifecycle in-house. Since 2016, its operational headquarters have been located in Lucignano, boasting a modern facility directly connected to the national railway network. Expanded in 2022, the 220,000-square-meter site features 18,000 square meters of covered space equipped with advanced rail sidings, parking areas, and a massive photovoltaic system that fulfills the plant’s energy needs, underscoring SVI’s strong commitment to green manufacturing.
Today, SVI stands as a solid and structured enterprise driven by 290 dedicated employees and an impressive annual turnover of 70 million euros—a tenfold increase from the seven million euros it generated when it first began attending InnoTrans continuously in 2014. According to CEO Mauro Vannoni, bringing such heavy equipment to Berlin demands an extraordinary economic, constructive, and logistical effort that thoroughly tests company resources, yet it remains an essential investment for future global growth.
At the Berlin exhibition, SVI is introducing fresh technical proposals designed to adapt to the evolving demands of modern railway construction sites. Technical Director Lorenzo Vannoni notes that these innovations expand the company’s extensive catalog to over 160 distinct models. The newly showcased machinery integrates thoughtful amenities tailored for harsh, remote railway environments, such as emergency restrooms, first-aid stations, and dedicated break areas for field crews.
Looking forward, SVI President Ivano Sambuchi emphasizes that the company enters this edition of InnoTrans with solid foundations and exceptional prospects for continued expansion. By seamlessly combining technological innovation, large-scale production capacity, and a deep-rooted respect for environmental sustainability and workforce well-being, SVI continues to cement its status as a trusted global standard-bearer in the railway infrastructure sector.
